n the occasion of the 500th anniversary of the death of the great explorer, the Christopher Columbus Foundation in Genoa has entrusted the publisher to produce a commemorative work to the great explorer. The volume is made up of five separate sections that compose an extraordinary mosaic of knowledge on the life and the enterprises of the Genoese. The work consists of a broad introductory essay written by one of the greatest experts in subject, Dario Guglielmo Martini. The reproduction of the famous "Lettera di Michele da Cuneo" which details Columbus' second trip to the Americas. The logbook of the trips of Christopher Columbus. An ample anthology of passages that testify the fortunes of the navigator in world literature, drawn from writings of authors such as Leopardi, Montesquieu, Tasso, Rosseau, Voltaire, Goethe, Gogol and Dario Fo. The volume also contains a facsimile reproduction of the famous "Carta del Cantino", the 1502 Portuguese map.
