two key documents, dated 1469 and 1504, are both kept in the National Record Office in
Simancas. The Testament is not simply a will but a summary of Isabella's political
experiences and recommendations to her successors: "I most humbly beseech my lord king
...that those Indians living in... territories already in our possession or those won in
the future, should receive no offence to their persons or their goods; and that he should
order that they be well and justly treated".
The facsimiles are presented in a file,
inside a presentation case. The accompanying volume contains a study by Professor Luis
Suárez Fernández of Madrid Complutense University.
