his codex documents the relationships of the ceremonies and rites of the population of Indians of the county of Michoacán. It was produced for the Illustrious Señor don Antonio de Mendoza, viceroy and governor from the New Spain on behalf of his majesty the King. The document is a manuscript on paper produced in the years 1539-1540 in the County of Mechuacán or Michoacán. The complete Document consists of 153 leaves sized 210 x 150 mm approximately, of these only 140 have written text, it also has other 44 sheets of illustrations of which have been specifically selected for this portfolio. The Document is in the Library of the Monastery of San Lorenzo del Escorial, near Madrid, in the Manuscripts section , under the key Ç.IV.5.
