he Salzburger Perikopenbuch is considered to be one of the greatest works of Salzburg book illumination of the 11th Century. Miniatures, initials and countless miniature gold-initials integrated into the text, as well as the application of leaf-gold and the most precious dyes... confirms it as artwork of overwhelming wealth. Under the patronage of Dr. Franz Kardinal König the publisher Faksimile Verlag Luzern has produced this great document of western book illumination in facsimile form.

The painted parchment is so delicate, that the original of the renowned illuminated manuscript Salzburger Perikopenbuch, cannot be touched. However, there is now the opportunity to acquire, this miracle of medieval book-art, in a facsimile edition. Any variation in the colour-quality (between the original and facsimile) was not recognisable. Even the handwriting, re-created with most expensive procedures, is absolutely identical to the original. The Salzburg book-painter-monks were masters of their craft.
