[T]he Vorauer Peoples Bible is one of the most beautiful and most valuable of the so called " History Bible's " of the late Middle ages. The Vorauer Codex, from the year 1467 contains the text of the whole Old and New Testaments in a Bavarian-Austrian dialect. The colorful variety the more than 550 carefully colored drawings gives not only a descriptive idea of the belief's and the religious ideals but also the habits and the clothing of the people of the late Middle Ages.

In order to make possible a descriptive insight for a wide circle of readers into this precious manuscript, this volume offers the book of Exodus, with its 45 miniatures in a facsimile form, true to the original..Ferdinand Hutz, gives a general, comprehensible introduction into the historic and artistic peculiarities of the Vorauer codex.«
