he manuscript contains the earliest atlas of the former duchy of Württemberg. It shows the administrative districts of the ecclesiastical and secular world at the time in 52 delicately drawn and lavishly coloured charts. The charts are drawn in bird's-eye view. Towns and villages, hamlets and farmsteads are characterised in outline. Since the borders of today's state of Württemberg are not identical with those of the old duchy, the atlas also covers areas now in the state of Baden. The work was made by an office father named Schweikkher (1526-1579) and was a truly outstanding achievement of its time. All cartographic representations of the region are based on this magnificent work.
Facsimile edition of the 114 pages in the original format of 25.5 x 38 cm. Dark leather binding with blind tooling. 48-page commentary volume.
